Watershed
To obtain permits to fire bricks, the barn at Watershed was sawed in half and rolled down the hill into the neighboring county. Pictured is a line of powdered and fired Watershed clay, a visualization of the county line the building had to cross, as do visitors when they walk from the lodgings to the studio. The line prompts questions about borders and the visualization of history as it refers to the former history of Watershed as a brick factory.
During the Watershed Residency, research and material experimentation focused on visualizing little known histories and material properties.
