FLO(we){u}R: Collaborative project with Joe Madrigal.

FLO(we){u}R highlights a little known detail of American history. Terra cotta factories, which produced the remarkable facades on the building in downtowns across the country, were commissioned to make dummy bombs for the military during WWI. For this durational performance, we became a site of factory production, re-enacting the making of clay dummies.

As part of a closing event,we hosted a Munitions Lunch. During preparations, we collected the seeds. The seeds were formed into munitions packs and fitted to the heads of the bombs. Once packed, we placed them outside, allowing the animals to eat and then perform a random seed drop for us. In this way, we reversed the military intention of training towards a precise drop and allow for a more open-ended random dispersal.
