Preamble

with Tom Ginsburg

On invitation from Lucky Pierre to join a 12 hour presentation about the U.S. Constitution on election day 2012, Tom Ginsburg and I collaborated for the first time, choosing to focus on the preamble. For the live performance, Tom spoke about the history and aspirations of preambles in the lives of constitutions, and at three separate times, I worked with the audience to make poems from extracted words of the preamble. For the publication, we created a highly annotated poem combining the group process with research.
